A year-round home for Jewish professionals in cannabis

Jews in Weed is where connection, Jewish identity, culture, professional relationships and a lot of joy come together. We gather at conference Bagel Bashes and on a pre-Shabbat call every month, in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Plants, at holiday parties and evening events, and in a community that keeps talking in between.

All are welcome. Hate is not.

Jewish professionals are at the heart of Jews in Weed, and allies have been part of it from day one. Today they make up nearly half of the people at our events.

How the community comes together

The Bagel Bash is our signature, but it is only one of the ways Jews in Weed shows up for each other all year.

What happens at a Bagel Bash?

A Bagel Bash is a two to three hour breakfast held the morning a big cannabis conference opens. People arrive with a coffee in one hand and a business card in the other, and by the time the exhibit hall doors open they have already met the banker, the brand founder and the compliance attorney they were hoping to find on the floor.

Some Bashes include a few words from a host, a sponsor or a special guest, and some are pure schmoozing. Either way the heart of it is the same: good food, a room full of people who share something beyond the industry, and enough time to actually talk. It all started at MJBizCon in Las Vegas in December 2023, and MJBizCon is still the original Bash. Since then it has become a standing tradition at Hall of Flowers, NECANN, IgniteIt and the Long Island Capital Alliance.

Save the date: the Bagel Bash at MJBizCon in Las Vegas, Thursday, December 3. The invitation is coming soon, so get on the newsletter to hear first.

Questions people ask when they find us

What is Jews in Weed?

Jews in Weed, or JIW, is a year-round community for Jewish professionals across the legal cannabis industry and the allies who show up with them. It began after October 7, 2023, as a pre-Shabbat call, and it now gathers at conference Bagel Bashes, holiday parties and evening events, on that same monthly call, in a WhatsApp community and through a regular newsletter.

Do I need to be Jewish to join?

No. All are welcome. Hate is not. Jewish professionals are at the heart of the community, and allies have been part of it from the start. Today they make up nearly half of the people at our events.

How do I find out about the next gathering?

Subscribe to the community calendar on our Get involved page, join the WhatsApp community, or sign up for the newsletter, where invitations go first. We also post every event on Instagram and LinkedIn.

Can my company sponsor Jews in Weed?

Yes. Sponsors support the whole community, not just one breakfast. For 2027 there are four signature sponsorships, for the bagels, the lox, the monthly call and the event bracelets, plus Machers and single-event sponsorships. Write to high@jewsinweed.com to talk it through.

A Jewish home base inside the cannabis industry

Cannabis is still a young industry, and much of it happens on the road: trade shows, regulatory hearings, launch parties, investor meetings. Jews in Weed gives the Jewish people in that world a place to find each other at every stop, whether they keep kosher or have not been to shul since their bar or bat mitzvah.

The community meets at the intersection of identity, cannabis and culture. That means a room where a dispensary owner from Queens can trade notes with a California grower, a cannabis banker can kvell about a friend's new brand, and a first-time attendee leaves with a dozen people to text at the next show.
